First 10 Years

     2001- The Establishment of Library

After the establishment of our university in April, the establishment attempts of the library started in May 2001 in order to provide documents for students, academic staff and researchers and main information resources to support education and research activities in the university.

 
2002-The Opening of Library Building
The library building was opened. It started to give service with     600 m2 reading saloon for               150 readers, 1200 books,                   25 periodicals, 6 online databases, 6 computers with internet access and CD-ROM and YORDAM library software.
           

2003-Period of Service was extended

The working hours of library were extended to 8:30-22:00. Our services were given by 3 librarians with 2393 books, 42 periodicals and 6 online databases. Ten-year library report was prepared for IFC. Statistics were prepared for DIE. ISBN was given for the first publication of the university. The materials were counted for the first time.

       

 2004-Library Partnership Protocol with BC

After the Library Partnership Protocol signed with the British Council library services will begin playing together. Our services are provided by 4 librarians and consist of 10.942 materials, 118 magazines and 13 online database subscriptions. A panel on “Restructuring and Social Integration” is held with TKD.

         

2005-Special Corners     (American-French Corner)

American and French Corners consisting of special collections on Country and Education information open. Various films are displayed on specific days. Online databases outside the campus can be accessed. University publications are listed on the web site of our library.

       

2006-Ground Floor of the Library Opens

Ground floor of the library opens as a partial reading room. Archive work of the university is initiated by the library. Our services are provided by 6 librarians and consist of 21.080 materials, 132 magazines and 23 online database subscriptions.

     

2007-Greek Corner

Greek Corner including information on history and education about Greece opens in the library. Archivists are employed and unit correspondence coding application and digital archive works start. Our services are provided by 7 librarians and consist of 73.783 materials, 145 magazines, 44.238 e-magazines and 23 online database subscriptions in a reading room of 1.060 m ².
 

     

2008-Erasmus Programme

Within the framework of Erasmus staff mobility, our university for the first time exchanges staff with Vaasa University of Finland. A conference on Digital Libraries is held with Goethe Institute.

                 

2009-SDI Service/IUP Protocol

SDI (Selective Dissemination of Information) service has first time been presented with the 208 journals and 33.796 e-journals, which we are members of. IUP, the Protocol of Library Cooperation has been signed between the universities in Izmir. Thanks to this protocol, academicians may benefit from the 570.000 materials in all the libraries, and in addition, common exchange programs are going to be applied to the library stuff for educational purposes.

    2010-Library Downstairs

 Downstairs of the library has been opened within the revision of the new settlement. Orientation educations have been given in the seminar rooms constantly in a specific program. Services are presented by 8 librarians with a membership of 250 journals, 48.301 e-journals and 28 online databases, and with 90.651 materials.
   

2011-Romanian Corner

Romanian Corner has been opened in the library, which includes books on the history and education of Romanian. Within the scope of IUP, library stuff attends to Exchange program for specific purposes. The panel titled as Libraries in the Cinema History of Turkey and the World in hand with the Ministry of Culture and TLA.
