Information Regarding the Sifting and Disposal Commission (SDC)
The process of document disposition for archival records within our institution is meticulously managed through specific rules and dedicated commissions.
Structure and Scope of the Commission
A Sifting and Disposal Commission (SDC) is typically established, consisting of five people (a minimum of three), to handle the sifting and disposal procedures for the institution's archive. The commission is chaired by the Vice Secretary-General, and representatives from relevant units who possess knowledge and experience are included in the commission. The Library Director and the University Archivist are automatic members of this commission.
Operating Principles and Decision-Making
The SDC begins its work at the start of March each year. The commission convenes with its full membership and makes its decisions by a majority vote. In case of a tie vote or any resulting doubt, the material in question is considered decided to be retained. Documents whose disposal is rejected are subject to re-evaluation by the relevant commission in subsequent years.
